Tim Baker is known as the writer and frontman of the much-acclaimed Newfoundland group, Hey Rosetta!. They are a Juno-nominated, Polaris-shortlisted, heavily awarded band that created poetic, powerful alternative music for over a decade.
Following the hiatus announcement of Hey Rosetta!, Baker released his beautiful debut solo album, Forever Overhead (Arts & Crafts) in April 2019. A blend of piano ballads with ebullient folk-rock tracks, the record is also brushed with the qualities of 70s singer-songwriters (think Jackson Browne and Randy Newman) and contemporaries like First, Leif Vollebekk, and The Barr Brothers. It was received with adoring ears by fans and was met with critical acclaim by music media.
In 2021, Baker’s writing delved deeper into escapism, social isolation, climate crises, and loss of innocence. This broadened perspective culminated to the recording of his upcoming sophomore album in the spring of 2021 in a custom made studio at the world famous Logo Island Inn. The first single from the album, “Lucky Few”, was released on May 11th, 2022.
